Adobe Flash Player 10.2 launched with Stage Video

Adobe has released the latest version of its Flash Player software. Most of the online videos are based on this software. The new version 10.2 is more efficient as compared to its previous versions and will use only 15 percent of your CPU, claims Adobe.

What sets Flash Player version 10.2 apart is “Stage Video”, which is a hardware accelerator that fastens the video delivery process on websites. Stage Video allows 1080p HD video playing with minimal CPU usage. However, its utility will only be witnessed when websites delivering video also adopt Stage Video. Websites like YouTube, Vimeo and Epix have already started using the new software.
The Flash Player 10.2 is now available for download for Windows, Mac and Linux. Launched first in 1997, the Flash Player started streaming video online in 2002. Today it is the industry standard and Adobe reports that about three fourth of all the online video is present in the Flash format.

It was however criticised for pulling a lot of power and processor user. Apple dropping Flash in its iPhones and iPads bears testimony as to how much of a concern was it that Flash takes up a power. However, with Stage Video, Adobe seems to have addressed the issue and also enhancing video watching experience online.
